A lot of time is wasted in the lab trying to get cutting-edge science and ideas into the market, into IP, or into grants and publications. One of the main time-consuming tasks is the use of paper notebooks. It is ironic that lab personnel often use state-of-the-art research equipment but their approach to managing data by paper note taking is centuries old.
